IN a deal described by KwaZulu Natal Tourism Minister Narend Singh as ‘a willing marriage and an example of a successful BEE story’, Durban-based Strelitzia Tours has sold a majority shareholding to local tourism personalities, Rajes and Logan Govender. The deal, valued at close to R1m, sees Strelitzia becoming the first tour operator in the province that is managed by a female, disabled, previously disadvantaged individual. Established 17 years ago by Simon and Pavine Ruscoe, Strelitzia Tours will enjoy a fresh approach and BEE component with this new partnership. Natalia Thomson natalia@nowmedia.co.za
