Swiss steps up security fees

SWISS International Air Lines has decided to charge an increased security fee in certain countries. This decision is a response to additional operating costs the carrier is having to pay due to tighter security precautions necessitated by the war in Iraq. Security fees from the following countries have been increased as follows: *Switzerland and Liechtenstein CHF 12 (R68,8) per coupon *Netherlands EUR 3 (R25,4) per coupon *Belgium, France, Spain, Luxembourg USD 8 (R63,4) per coupon These amounts are applicable for all tickets issued in the named countries. Swiss intends to discontinue this tax as soon as the global situation returns to normal. (Heather Ruddock)
