Travel Counsellors is saying “thanks a billion” to its community of ITCs this week, as it surpasses the £1 billion (R23,14 billion) mark in global sales for the first time, amid rising demand for personalised, expert-led travel experiences.

The record sales comprised £735 million (R17 billion) in leisure sales and the balance of £265 million (R6,14 billion) generated from corporate SME clients over the rolling 12-month period up to August 23, 2024.

£364 million of these sales was attributed to tailored TC packages. TC Journeys, one of the latest features built into the company’s tech platform, now offers over 215 itineraries across 66 countries, building on the company’s success as a tour operator.

The Travel Counsellors community has continued to grow, with 297 new business owners joining in the last year, bringing the total number to 2 121 at the end of August. Notably, 171 of these achieved their best-ever sales performance in the past 12 months.

Steve Byrne, CEO of Travel Counsellors, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have reached this £1 billion sales milestone for the first time, made possible by the dedication, passion and care of our entire Travel Counsellors community…Our success is driven by the strength of our technology platform, enhanced by the human touch of our Travel Counsellors. This winning combination supports them to scale their businesses in a way that suits them. Our investment in technology has also helped us build our position as a leading tour operator by enabling us to offer more tailored packages that meet our customers' evolving needs. We look forward to the future with excitement as we continue to grow and succeed together.”
