US visa fees up by US$35

THE American State Department has raised the worldwide non-immigrant visa fee from US$65 to US$100, effective November 1, 2002. The State Department says the new processing fee is inline with the actual costs of administering non-immigrant visa services. The Department says since September 11 2001, visa demand has dropped, but the cost of running non-immigrant visa operations has not. The processing of each application has become more time consuming as a result of enhanced security screening requirements instituted since 9/11. (Miguel de Sousa)
