A LOW-flying DC-4 plane, built in 1946, fully restored to its former glory and upgraded to the comfort of business class, will be used to charter tourists to exotic African destinations, including a custom-designed 21-day tour incorporating trips to Victoria Falls, the spice island of Zanzibar and the plains of the Masai Mara in Kenya. A highlight will be tours to view the solar eclipse of 2001 in Zimbabwe and Zambia. Johannesburg-based Inbound Travel Services Africa will launch its new product, Classic African Air Safaris, at this year's ITB exhibition in Berlin. Termed as "the ultimate in upmarket private charter travel", packages include top-class accommodation in luxurious lodges and hotels, meals, excursions and theme evenings to many of Africa's top destinations. A minimum of 24 people and a maximum of 40 can be accommodated on the tours. (Southern African Tourism Update - February 2000)
