Virtual reality training for Avis staff

AVIS Rent-Car has expanded its training facilities with the implementation of a new interactive, multimedia program for trainee rental sales agents.
The 13-hour-long, CD ROM-based program called 'The Making of a Rental Sales Agent' tests trainees' responses to seven different learner-managed scenarios, covering a comprehensive range of rental experiences using a virtual environment. In this way the trainees are equipped for effective customer interaction in real life.
Avis says that while the program is designed for rental sales agents, it is intended to put all new staff through it, whatever their function or seniority level, in order to give them an understanding of the importance of customer interaction and of how the Avis Global Wizard system facilitates customer service.
Comments Avis' managing director, Grahame Cilliers: "Avis spends some 7% of its total payroll costs on training and we believe this is more than justified by the constant gains in people productivity we are able to achieve."
