Volcanic eruption in Iceland: BA updates commercial policy

BRITISH Airways has updated the commercial policy issued to customers affected by the disruptions caused by the volcanic ash cloud over Europe. Customers whose flights are currently still operating up to and including May 2, but who does not wish to travel now can choose one of three options: • Rebook 8-21 days after the scheduled departure of the original flight to the same destination. Rebooking within seven days after the original scheduled departure date is not permitted. If the same booking class is not available, the next lowest class may be booked within the same cabin. This can be done at no additional cost to the customers and if required the validity of the ticket may be extended. • Rebook to a later date 22 days after the scheduled departure of the original flight. Rebook to the same destination in the same booking class and cabin. The flight must be rebooked and travel must take place within the validity of the original ticket purchased. This will be at no additional cost to the customer. • A refund to the original form of payment, only if travelling on a longhaul journey, which originates outside of the UK. For longhaul flights originating in the UK and all shorhaul flights refunds will only be permitted if fare rules allow it.
