Warning to travel agents!

A SYNDICATE in Accra, Ghana, is committing airline fraud by requesting airline tickets from South African travel agents through e-mail or fax with copies of passports and ‘Diners Club’ credit cards, advises Diners Club. The syndicate seems to be mainly targeting the smaller travel agencies. Agents are advised that an authorisation number of a credit card is not sufficient and they should obtain an imprint of the credit card. Iata travel agencies should be careful when processing tickets for non-Iata agents as the Iata agent will then be held liable if fraudulent. (Dorine Berger)
