WC’s tourism showcase success extended

FOLLOWING last year’s success of the inaugural Western Cape Tourism Showcase which Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (Satsa) held in conjunction with the Western Cape Tourism Board (WCTB), there are talks to extend this initiative into other provinces. This was announced by Satsa ceo, Gail McCann at the Satsa agm held in Cape Town over the weekend. According to WCTB ceo, Dr Mike Fabricius, the Western Cape Tourism Showcase – to be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from August 15 to 17 - drew over a 1 000 visitors and featured 140 exhibitors, with a waiting list of over 30. Fabricius explains that the showcase was developed for tourism companies who do not have the resources to travel to large travel shows or advertise their products/services in major publications. This year the Tourism Showcase will be held in conjunction with the Flight Centre and Outdoor Adventure Expo, which is expected to greatly increase visitor traffic to the show. (Adéle Mackenzie)
