Western Cape Hotel & Spa's architecture praised

THE Western Cape Hotel & Spa has been awarded a commendation by the Cape Institute of Architecture (CIA) and nominated for a national merit award by the South African Institute of Architecture (SAIA). The Western Cape Hotel & Spa, located in the Kogelberg Biosphere near Kleinmond, was one of 36 entries for this year's regional award ceremony recognising excellence in design and architecture. Thirteen of the entrants received awards of commendation and seven of these, including The Western Cape Hotel & Spa, were nominated for a national award. The winners of the national awards will be announced later this year. Stefan Braun, the ceo of Arabella County Estate on which the hotel is located, said the building's architecture had been designed to blend into the environmentally sensitive Kogelberg Biosphere.
