Western Cape tourism on target, says Tourism Minister

ACCORDING to a survey conducted by the Western Cape Ministry of Agriculture, Tourism and Gambling, 1,3m domestic visitors travelled to the Cape in December 2002 and January 2003, ploughing a total of R865m into the area’s economy. Western Cape Tourism Minister, Johan Gelderblom, has said that these figures were within the province’s tourism targets for the December to January holiday months. An interesting tendency shown by the survey, was that domestic visitors appeared to shorten their December holiday by a few days. (Heather Ruddock)
