Four states across the Gulf Cooperation Council have signed an MOU for a collaboration aimed at improving the infrastructure and experience of cruising in the region.

Maritime and tourism authorities from Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai and Oman signed an agreement at the ITB Berlin to promote the area and attract more calls from cruise ships.

The key objectives of the alliance, under the umbrella of Cruise Arabia, include making improvements to port infrastructure and collaborating through promotional initiatives to endorse multi-country experiences in the Gulf.

Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said he was confident that the partnership would elevate the region as a cruise hub.

“Dubai and its regional partners have already made significant strides in developing their cruise tourism segments, and collaboration will further elevate the regional offering and make it more appealing to cruise lines and passengers,” he said.
