Emirates has sent out a trade communication to let agents know that, with immediate effect, passengers travelling from a list of countries, including South Africa, with transit times of 10-24 hours in Dubai, will be allowed to transit Dubai provided certain rules are followed.
Passengers with these transit times must leave Dubai Airport and cannot stay airside during their transit period. To exit Dubai Airport, passengers must comply with following requirements:
If passenger holds a booking with STPC in PNR (if the PNR is eligible for STPC), the below applies:
· Pax must present a valid negative COVID‑19 PCR test certificate with a QR code for a test conducted within 48 hours. Validity should be calculated from the time the sample was collected, prior to departure from one of the approved South African laboratories listed on the Emirates website. Children under 12 years and passengers with moderate to severe disabilities are exempted from PCR test requirements.
· Pax must perform a Rapid PCR test at the departure airport within six hours of departure, and hold a valid negative Rapid PCR test report with a QR code. Passengers must report to the airport six hours prior to departure to avoid check-in delays.
· Passengers will be required to take another PCR test on arrival at Dubai International airport (at no cost).
If passenger is not eligible for STPC, the below applies:
· Customers must have a pre-approved visa to enter the UAE if they do not qualify for STPC.
· Dubai Stopover packages are available for passengers to book through DEX.
· Customers may stay with family or friends if they have a valid pre-approved visa to enter the UAE.

Children under 12 years and passengers with moderate to severe disabilities are exempt from PCR test requirements.
· All transit passengers must complete all the requirements of their final destination.
