AccessibleGO, an accommodation booking platform for people with disabilities, recently unveiled its new features that now extend to flight bookings as well as vehicle and equipment rentals for global destinations.
The platform launched its new services on Thursday (January 18) to promote accessibility – not only in the hotel sector but in air services and ground transport. The company said customers booking a flight via the platform could now specify what assistance they would need from the airport and airline staff, and an AccessibleGO employee would contact the airline to ensure their needs could be met.
Customers can also rent hand-controlled cars and wheelchair vans. AccessibleGO is partnering with Scootaround and Jayride to offer mobility products and equipment such as wheelchairs, scooters, hospital beds, and wheelchair-accessible airport transfers and hotel pick-ups.
“We are excited about the progress we’ve made with our partners in the disability community and look forward to continue improving the travel booking process for people with accessibility needs and their travel companions so they can travel freely and with confidence,” said Miriam Eljas, Co-founder and CEO.
AccessibleGO, which began as an accommodation platform, provides information on accessibility in destinations worldwide, including South Africa. It encourages customers to give reviews on how their needs were handled by a particular hotel. The platform then provides accessibility ratings for featured hotels, ranging from one to 10.
