Air Europa introduces GDS fee

Air Europa will introduce a fee for bookings made through GDS systems from July 1 as part of ongoing efforts to modernise its distribution system while advancing its rollout of NDC capabilities.

The Distribution Channel Fee (DCF) will apply to Air Europa tickets issued via GDS and will be charged by Origin & Destination (O&D).

The DCF amount per O&D based on point of commencement will be:

  • €12 (R232)
  • £11 (R246)
  • US$14,50 (R240)
  • CHF11 (R232)

For example, €12 (R232) will be charged for a one-way flight and €24 (R464) will be charged for a return flight.

The DCF will be filed as a YR and will apply to all fares, fare types and booking classes in all markets, subject to local regulations in each country. Bookings made through NDC direct channels (AEA Direct API, AEA Direct Partner and AEA Direct Web) will not be subject to the fee.

The airline also announced that its content will no longer be available through the Sabre GDS. “While discussions to date have not resulted in an agreement, we remain open to continuing negotiations with Sabre GDS and are taking all necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition and to minimise any impact,” the airline said in a statement.
