Madagascar Airlines will revert to the name Air Madagascar from October 31 as the national carrier works to rebuild its domestic, regional and international operations.
The airline was created in 2021 through the restructuring of Air Madagascar and integration of Tsaradia.
Its regional rebuilding has already begun with the resumption of the Antananarivo-Mahajanga-Moroni route on July 30. The service operates twice weekly using an ATR 72-500.
The airline has also entered a codeshare agreement with Mayotte-based Ewa Air, a subsidiary of Air Austral. Madagascar Airlines markets Ewa Air-operated flights under its MD code, providing connections between Mayotte and Antananarivo, Antsiranana, Mahajanga and Nosy Be, as well as Moroni via Mayotte.
The carrier operates a fleet of ATR aircraft and plans to lease at least one long-haul and one medium-haul aircraft to support its expansion.
