Air travel round-up: ET resumes Jordan flights

On July 8, Ethiopian Airlines resumed its operations between Addis Ababa and Amman, Jordan.

The airline offers a daily night flight and three weekly day flights. From July 28, day flights increase to five weekly.

Flight ET0428 departs Addis Ababa at 22h25 and arrives in Amman at 02h25, the following day. The return flight ET0429 departs Amman at 03h25 and arrives in Addis Ababa at 06h55.

Flight ET0430 departs Addis Ababa at 10h15 and arrives in Amman at 14h05. The return flight ET0431 departs Amman at 16h10 and arrives in Addis Ababa at 19h55. The flights currently operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. From July 28, they will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Norse Atlantic to launch Phuket flights

Norse Atlantic is launching flights to Phuket from Stockholm from December 4, and Oslo from December 8.

Stockholm-Phuket: NO195 departs Stockholm on Thursdays at 12h20 and arrives in Phuket at 05h50 the following day. The return flight NO196 departs Phuket on Fridays at 07h50 and arrives in Stockholm at 14h50.

Oslo-Phuket: NO095 departs Oslo on Mondays at 22h00 and arrives in Phuket at 15h40 the following day. The return flight NO096 departs Phuket on Tuesdays at 17h40 and arrives in Oslo at 00h50 the following day.

Emirates plans Crypto payments

Emirates and Crypto.com have partnered to explore ways to integrate Crypto.com Pay in the airline’s payments systems. Integration is expected to take place next year.

Both groups will work to maintain the security and compliance standards.

US scraps shoes-off policy

The US Department of Homeland Security has scrapped a policy requiring travellers to take off their shoes when passing through airport screenings.

Passengers travelling through domestic airports can now keep their shoes on at security screening checkpoints. Other security measures will still apply during the checkpoint process. 

The new policy will streamline the security process, leading to shorter wait times.

Israel to revamp airport

Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport is launching a new check-in and screening complex in Terminal 3 and reopening Terminal 1 as part of efforts to revive travel.

According to the Israel Airports Authority, the facility is being launched to prepare for a rise in air traffic following the lifting of international flight restrictions to Israel.

On August 14, Terminal 3, which is used for international arrivals, will unveil a new departure hall featuring 22 check-in counters, new screening and baggage processing.

Terminal 1, used for regional flights, will reopen on August 3.
