Air travel round-up: Lufthansa expands Japan services

Lufthansa will resume flights between Frankfurt and Nagoya and introduce a daily Frankfurt-Tokyo-Narita service as part of its summer 2027 schedule.

The seasonal Nagoya service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from March 29, 2027. Flights will depart Frankfurt at 14h10 and arrive in Nagoya at 09h35 the following day. Return flights will depart Nagoya at 11h30 and arrive in Frankfurt at 18h30.

The daily seasonal Tokyo-Narita service will launch on March 28, 2027. Flights will depart Frankfurt at 13h45 and arrive in Narita at 09h30 the following day. Return flights will depart Narita at 11h20 and arrive in Frankfurt at 18h40.

The Narita service will complement Lufthansa’s existing daily flights to Tokyo-Haneda from Frankfurt and Munich.

Both services will use Boeing 787-9 aircraft fitted with Lufthansa’s Allegris cabin product, offering 28 business-class, 28 premium-economy and 231 economy-class seats.

SWISS will increase its Japan offering to up to seven weekly flights between Zurich and Tokyo-Narita.

SQ, AI expand partnership

Air India and Singapore Airlines have launched the first phase of their commercial partnership, allowing customers to book eligible flights between India and Singapore through either airline’s booking channels.

From October 15, the two airlines will offer customers a wider range of flight options covering flights between Singapore and Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai in India.

Currently, bookings through the other airline have to include a flight operated by both carriers. This requirement will be removed from October 15.

Etihad ups Damascus flights

Etihad Airways will increase its Abu Dhabi-Damascus service from four to seven weekly flights from November 14.

“The response to our Damascus service has impressed us from the very first flight, and a daily service is the natural next step,” said Arik De, Etihad Airways Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer. “It brings the Syrian capital within easy reach of our guests in the UAE, and places Damascus just one stop from the many destinations we serve beyond Abu Dhabi.”
