Airbnb has launched Airbnb Luxe, its luxury tier for guests looking to spend more than $1 000 (R14 300) per night on accommodation.
This new tier will offer more than 2 000 homes, each one passing evaluation standards across 300 criteria in design and function, including materials, unique features, appliances and bathrooms.
Properties on offer include homes in South Africa and New Zealand, villas in Tuscany and Jamaica and private islands in French Polynesia.
Each Airbnb Luxe booking provides 24/7 access to a dedicated trip designer who will ensure successful booking and check-in, co-ordination of local bespoke experiences and activities, and the arrangement of services such as childcare, private chefs, in-house massage therapists and personal trainers.
Airbnb Luxe plans to add properties in 12 more cities this year, including Milan and Paris.
