Airlink will launch a new service between Durban and Gqeberha (previously Port Elizabeth) from April 4, six days a week, with two flights on Wednesdays.

The flights will operate every day except Saturdays. Tickets are on sale from today.

On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 4Z520 departs DUR at 06h15 and arrives in PLZ at 07h45. The return flight 4Z521 departs PLZ at 08h15 and arrives in DUR at 09h45.

On Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, 4Z528 departs DUR at 16h20 and arrives in PLZ at 17h40. Return flight, 4Z529 departs PLZ at 18h25 and arrives in DUR at 19h55.

“This latest expansion of our comprehensive route network will promote economic activity between the two metropoles and their market catchment areas. These cover the KwaZulu Natal North and South Coasts as well as Eastern Cape cities and towns such as Coega, Kariega (Uitenhage), Makhanda (Grahamstown) and popular tourist destinations such as Port Alfred, Jeffreys Bay, Cape St Francis and the Garden Route,” said Airlink CEO and MD, Rodger Foster.

This will be Airlink’s third route serving Gqeberha – the airline already serves the Eastern Cape coastal city from Johannesburg and Cape Town. Similarly, it expands Airlink’s network of destinations served from Durban, which already includes Johannesburg, Harare and Mbombela (Nelspruit).

Flights will be operated by modern Embraer Regional Jets. Economy-class fares include 20kg free checked-in luggage plus a 15kg sporting equipment allowance. On board, customers are treated to a complimentary light meal, refreshments, generous leg-room and a choice of aisle or window seat. Airlink aircraft do not have middle seats.

The airline says flights are scheduled to provide convenient connections with its other domestic and regional services as well as with long-haul flights provided by its global airline partners.
