SINCE the waiting lists for the well-known five day Otter Trail hike are so long, Cape St Francis Nature Resort has launched a two-day, one-night alternative trail which offers a similar coastline trail to sea caves, archaeological middens, waterfalls, mountains, shipwrecks, forests and beaches.
The 'Tsitsikamma Alternative to the Otter Trail' utilises the coastline between the Otter trail and Port Elizabeth and most of it traverses privately owned land which tourists normally wouldn't be allowed to visit.
The trail is part of a range of adventures offered by St Francis. Other packages include coastal hikes, 4x4 beach trips, river adventures and mountain explorations.
