AmaWaterways to launch three new ships

AmaWaterways will launch three new ships in 2019 – the AmaMagna, Europe’s largest river cruise ship, AmaMora and AmaDouro.
Thaybz Khan, contemporary brand manager at Cruises International, says: “New-builds mean that the industry is still growing and we see a lot of potential still to come from river cruising. The new builds will lead to enhanced itineraries and on-board experiences for our guests.”
The 164-passenger AmaMora will sail the Rhine and staterooms on the upper deck will feature AmaWaterways’ twin balcony concept. The ship will also feature a heated pool on the sun deck, Chef’s Table restaurant, massage and hair salon, fitness room, gift shop and speciality coffee station. A fleet of on-board bicycles will be available to guests.
The 102-passenger AmaDouro will sail Portugal’s River Douro. Staterooms will range from 15 to 20sqm and suites will be 30sqm in size. There will be a swimming pool on the sun deck, spa, fitness centre and gift shop.
With capacity for 196 passengers, AmaMagna is set to be almost twice as wide as AmaWaterways’ existing vessels. Scheduled to cruise on the Danube, the ship will feature 28sqm staterooms, multiple dining venues (including a glass-enclosed restaurant), large spa and gym area and enhanced evening entertainment. There is the possibility that a water sports platform may be installed on the ship which would give guests access to Zodiac boats, canoes and water scooters.
