THE Mozambique national airline, LAM, took delivery of a Boeing 767-200ER which flew in from Johannesburg to Maputo last week to deliver nine metric tons of relief supplies.
According to Johan Pheiffer from Pheiffer Communications, Boeing's Southern African public relations company, the company has contributed R450 000 to CARE and the Red Cross to assist with flood relief for Mozambique.
Both these non-profit organisations are working to help an estimated one million people affected by cyclones and heavy flooding in Africa.
Boeing also co-ordinated the loading and shipment of the relief supplies in co-operation with LAM and CARE.
Since 1992, the company has participated in 11 relief missions to Africa.
