Cathay Pacific and Qantas have entered into a new codeshare agreement that will see the airlines provide more options for customers travelling between Asia and Australia.
Cathay Pacific will add its code to 13 routes on Qantas’s domestic network in Australia. Qantas will add its code to Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon’s services within Asia from Hong Kong to 10 cities in India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, as well as on Cathay Pacific’s services from Hong Kong to Perth and Cairns.
Members of Cathay Pacific’s Marco Polo Club will be able to earn points on the Qantas codeshare flights, and Qantas Frequent Flyer members can earn points and status credits on Cathay Pacific codeshare flights.
Cathay Pacific country manager for South Africa, Ashish Kapur, welcomed the agreement: “Australia has been a key destination for Cathay Pacific ever since we launched our first commercial operations to the country nearly half a century ago, and we look forward to welcoming guests from Qantas onto our flights soon.”
Cathay Pacific and Qantas together operate more than 100 services a week between Hong Kong and Australia. Tickets for the codeshare services will be available for sale from October 22 for travel from October 28.
