Cruise the Zambezi on solar power

The recently launched Zambezi Explorer, operated by The Zambezi Cruise Company in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, runs exclusively on solar energy, resulting in minimal carbon emissions. The 140-seat cruise boat caters for leisure and corporate events and either individual decks or the entire craft can be privatised for exclusive functions or product launches.

Designed to appeal to environmentally conscious travellers, the entire 30 square metre roof is carpeted with a network of photovoltaic cells, capturing solar energy that powers the vessel’s lighting and on-board electrical requirements.

The Zambezi Explorer offers a pre-dawn sunrise cruise, a lunch with a cruise tour above the Victoria Falls as well as a sundowner drink and an upstream cruise. On occasion, the vessel may also be chartered for dinner cruises. Two five-star lower decks serve snacks and beverages as well as cocktails. On the third level, a Signature Desk serves hors d’oeuvres and premium beverages.
