Dubai reopens to visitors

Dubai will open up to tourists on July 7 under strict airport protocols and conditions, says a press release on the Government of Dubai’s Media Office website.

International tourists arriving by air must meet a set of new protocols to enter the UAE.

They need to download the COVID-19 DXB app and register personal details. This is critically important because it will facilitate easy co-ordination and communication with Dubai health authorities if the traveller experiences COVID-19 symptoms.

In addition to filling the ‘Health Declaration Form’ before embarking, visitors must have valid health insurance to enter the country. Airlines have the right to refuse boarding at the airport of departure if any COVID-19 symptoms are displayed.

Tourists must also do a PCR test with a maximum validity of four days (96 hours) ahead of the date of departure. They will be required to show proof that they are COVID-19-free on arrival at the airport in Dubai. If they cannot provide proof, they will undergo a PCR test at the airport.

All arrivals will be subject to thermal screening and if a traveller is suspected of having COVID-19 symptoms, the airport authority has the right to re-test the traveller.

Tourists who test positive for COVID-19 must register their details on the COVID-19 DXB app and isolate for 14 days at an institutional facility provided by the government, at their own expense.
