Emirates’ Dubai facilities certified as inclusive

The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) has awarded Emirates’ Dubai check-in facilities with a Certified Autism Center designation.

The certification shows that the airline has taken significant steps towards facilitating inclusive and accessible travel for neurodiverse passengers by meeting specific criteria for a comfortable and supported trip.

Emirates’ facilities underwent a comprehensive audit to measure all sensory inputs in public areas, including noise levels, lighting, and potential sights and smells. This process led to the development of a sensory guide, empowering passengers to make informed decisions and choose environments that best suit their needs.

Furthermore, Emirates’ employees underwent training on autism and sensory awareness to help them understand the skills needed to address passengers with sensory sensitivities.

The certification follows Dubai International Airport’s recent IBCCES certification, realising the Department of Economy and Tourism’s vision of becoming the first Certified Autism Destination in the Middle East.
