Flight Centre sets up SWOT team

Flight Centre SA has appointed a new executive leadership team of representatives from the divisions of the business that the group expects will generate the post-COVID-19 growth, to see the company into the future.

“We are following a three-pronged approach to our retail strategy, which will focus on growing our e-commerce, independent brands and brick and mortar divisions as the industry begins to reopen. This new SWOT team – or executive leadership team – consists of a representative from each area,” said Andrew Stark, md MEA FCTG.

Representing Flight Centre’s brick and mortar stores is Flight Centre gm, Bianca Mazur. Bianca began her career with Flight Centre 17 years ago as a retail consultant at the Flight Centre Park Meadows branch. Since then she has worked in various roles in FCTG’s retail, learning and development, leadership development, Peopleworks and area and brand leadership divisions.

Representing Flight Centre’s independent agent model is gm Independent Brands, Chantal Gouws. Chantal joined Flight Centre 18 years ago and went on to quickly become top novice in Sandton. In 2009, together with Marieke Tucker, she opened FCTG’s second Travel Associates store in Morningside and went on to become one of the brains behind the start-up of Flight Centre’s independent agent arm, today known as Flight Centre Associates (FCA). In the past eight years FCA has grown from nine to 171 associates.

E-commerce gm, Ross Anderson, joined FCTG three years ago as e-commerce leader. Ross has grown FCTG’s digital assets from zero to a R300m online business. He holds a BCom Honours in Economics, Commercial Law and Business Management from the University of Natal and completed a Management Development Programme at UNISA SLB.

“This formidable leadership team will collectively be tasked with building one retail brand for all South African outbound travellers. All three leaders are rightfully skilled in their channel to provide customers with a seamless and compelling omnichannel experience,” said Andrew.
