This story has been updated since originally published.

Congolese authorities have blocked access to Goma Airport on the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) eastern border with Rwanda, and cancelled flights to and from the airport, due to conflict over territory.

The DRC's government spokesperson, Patric Muyaya, said RwandAir was not allowed into the country because of Rwanda's alleged support for rebels.

Uganda Airlines has also suspended flights to Kinshasa due to the unrest, according to a notice published by the airline on January 28.

On January 29, Brussels Airlines announced that its Wednesday flights to and from Kinshasa had been cancelled, reports Namibia Press Agency. According to Flight Radar 24, the cancellations continued on Thursday, January 30.
