Emirates has put together a guide to assist you with your day-to-day reservation functions:
Changes before travel:
• Check penalties on old ticket
• Reassess fare if any segment is changing before journey has commenced
• If new fare is higher, collect difference in fare, tax and penalty applicable
• Penalties on EK collected as OB tax
• A ticket may not be reissued to a lower fare.
Fully un-utilised:
• Reassess fare to current/higher fare
• Reissue collecting difference in fare, tax and penalty applicable
• Penalties reissued at an OB tax
• Validity – from date of ticket issuance
• A ticket may not be reissued to a lower fare.
Combination fares:
• No change in fare, NO ADC, collect penalty and any taxes (The penalty fee of the segments being changed will apply)
• If you are collecting an additional fare, collect highest penalty of all fare basis issued on the ticket.
If EK fare is combined OAL fare, check both fare rules for penalties. Charge the higher of the two penalties (most restrictive condition)
Fares recalculated from point of origin:
• The point of origin may be changed to any other point in any other country provided the fare is recalculated from the new point of origin.
Eg. DXB-BAH-DXB can be changed to JNB-DXB-BAH-DXB-JNB. Provided penalties of the original ticket are applied and fare is recalculated as per current fare levels.
• Collect difference between the fares, taxes and penalty on old ticket
After travel:
• Use historical fares for penalties and fare calculations
• Use historical ROE from the system
Partially utilised:
• Reissue in same/higher fare
• Reissue collecting difference in fare and tax if any and applicable penalty as OB tax
• Validity – from date of first travel
Combination fares:
• Penalties of sectors that are being changed will apply
• If more than one component is changed, highest penalty applies
• If EK fare is combined with OAL fare, check both fare rules for penalties. Charge the higher of the two penalties (most restrictive condition)
Cabin upgrade:
• Penalty is waived for changes to a higher cabin in the same transaction
Per transaction:
• Tickets to be revalidated with every change made in the booking
• Changes collected for each transaction
Changes:
• Out of system range – one free change as per fare rules (the required flight details should be updated in the reservation at the time of ticketing. Please see fare rule)
• If NO SHOW, charge highest penalty between date change and no-show penalty (you do not charge the no-show fee and the date change penalty fee)
Validity extension:
• Unutilised tickets can be reissued a number of times
• Exchanged documents cannot be voided
• 3m/4m/6m tickets may be extended
• Compare fares for 3m/4m/6m tickets to 1yr tickets and do a straight minus
• Collect penalty applicable on the old fare
• Reissue ticket for the new validity
