Heathrow features ballet for the festive season

London Heathrow has introduced specially arranged ballet performances for passengers as a part of its holiday festivities.

The airport estimates that 64 000 passengers celebrated Christmas Day in 2022 in departure lounges and expects to accommodate 6,5 million passengers throughout December, a 10% increase on 2022’s figures.

To spread the festivities, the airport showed its first ballet performance on Tuesday, December 5. The Reunion, choreographed by former Birmingham Royal Ballet first artist Ruth Brill, conveys the sense of emotion and joy that travellers may feel when they land and reunite with their family and friends for the holidays. Repeat performances will take place on December 12 and 22 at 14h00.

“December at Heathrow is always a special time, with passengers jetting off to festivities with family and friends,” said Tonia Fielding, Heathrow’s Director of Services. “And on the other hand, so many people choose this month to return to the UK to celebrate a long-awaited reunion.”

Heathrow will also host local choir performances, visits from Father Christmas, and arts and crafts activities.
