Hot off the press: travel gap bridged

TARGETING tourism students, potential tourism entrepreneurs and current and future travel industry managers, a new book - 'Tourism distribution: Managing the travel intermediary', written by Dr Berendien Lubbe a lecturer on tourism distribution at the University of Pretoria - published by Juta last month, addresses the practical aspects of travel management and provides a history and a future perspective on where the author perceives the South African industry is headed.
Dr Lubbe told Travel Now that while there are a number of publications dealing with the technical aspects of tourism, there have been no books focusing on travel management per se, especially not from the South African perspective.
She says the 386-page book is "very comprehensive" and even contains practical information on a growing aspect of SA travel, the corporate and incentive market.
"Several well-known tourism industry players, including Avis, Thompsons Tours, BA/Comair, Uniglobe and the Kruger National Park, agreed to let me use them in my case studies giving valuable insight on a number of issues facing the industry."
Lubbe's book will soon be available for sale at all major bookstores.
