Iata to support green pathways

Iata has partnered with the Aviation Impact Accelerator (AIA) to assess the financial implications of reaching the aviation industry’s 2050 nett-zero CO2 goal.

AIA is a group of international experts developing tools for sustainable flight implementation.

The collaboration between the two bodies will support development of scenario-based tools to assist airlines in analysing and evaluating decarbonisation pathways. The aim is to support better-informed decisions by airlines and policymakers in the transition to nett zero and to provide a solid foundation for the two organisations to develop a long-term partnership.

‘’We are delighted to join forces with the Aviation Impact Accelerator with a view to enhance our understanding of the many potential pathways to achieve air transport‘s sustainable future,” said Marie Owens Thomsen, Iata’s Senior VP Sustainability and Chief Economist.

Thomsen said the development of technological pathways will influence the long-term outlook of the airline industry, and the partnership will explore this intersection.
