Kenya, Zambia agents – partners in travel

Kenyan and Zambian travel agents have signed a strategic partnership deal to boost growth in their travel industries.

The Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) and the Travel Agents Association of Zambia (TAAZ) inked the deal in Nairobi on November 27, with the aim of ensuring the collaborative improvement of business and leisure travel between the two countries, reports Xinhua News.

"This partnership marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to reshape the tourism landscape. Together with TAAZ, we are poised to drive unprecedented growth, enhancing our countries' allure as vibrant travel destinations," said Joseph Kithitu, Chairman of KATA.

Hamida Malik, Chairperson of TAAZ, said the collaboration was poised to channel a surge of visitors into Zambia. "It signifies a concerted effort to unlock the full potential of our tourism sector."

The partnership describes a roadmap for mutual growth, enabling members of the associations to renew their businesses by tapping into new markets and reviving regional travel. The collaboration will bolster the competitive edge of Kenya and Zambia's reputations as tourist destinations by luring tourists to the culture-rich attractions of both countries.

Travel agents from both countries will attend incentives and training, including immersive familiarisation trips and educational webinars, to create synchronised marketing initiatives to catalyse regional travel and unlock opportunities for private-sector travel businesses.

The deal requires travel agents to facilitate the exchange of expertise and insights within the countries' travel domains and encourage reciprocal visits between Kenya and Zambia to foster a deeper understanding of each other's tourism offerings.

The partnership also aims to stimulate increased tourist traffic between the two nations and to co-ordinate the calendar of events.
