Long Lake completes Amex GBT acquisition

Long Lake Management has completed its $6,3 billion (R104,9 billion) acquisition of American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT).

Following the acquisition, Amex GBT will operate as a privately held company, with Long Lake’s AI engineering capabilities expected to be integrated into its technology and service offering.

The acquisition was announced in May and approved by Amex GBT stockholders on August 3.

“This milestone brings Long Lake’s AI engineering team into Amex GBT. From agentic customer tools to AI-empowered travel counsellors, our customers can expect continuous innovation that will make the service they already trust faster, smarter, and more personalised,” said Paul Abbott, CEO of Amex GBT.
