Regenerative Travel, has launched two marine celebrations for World Oceans Day on June 8.

Regenerative Travel is a community of like-minded hotels, operators and agents who believe in changing the nature of the travel industry to be a force for good. Its website says the community helps travellers to find hotels which share that vision. With a majority female team, Regenerative Travel believes in uplifting underrepresented groups and communities through its work.

Each Regenerative Travel hotel is focused on creating special experiences that reveal the essence of the place in which they are located—shaped by local people, nature, and culture, and contributing meaningfully to the local economy.

The Oceans Day celebrations are both scuba-diving activities supporting marine conservation and citizen science at two of Regenerative Travel’s hotels - the Manta Resort in Tanzania and Hamanasi Resort in Belize, reports Refined Roaming.

The Manta Resort has launched a 28-day training course, the Pemba Coral Reef Safari, in collaboration with specialised guide training organisation, Ecotraining. The scuba instruction course incorporates underwater guiding techniques, as well as identification and interpretation of marine wildlife on the Pemba coral reefs. The programme uses full face masks with built-in microphones to enable real-time underwater commentary.

At the Hamanasi Resort, divers can take part in the Citizen Science and Lionfish Spearfishing programme, where they will dive the Belize Barrier Reef Unesco World Heritage Site and participate in activities to control invasive species such as the lionfish.
