02 Dec 2021

All travellers arriving in Malawi from December 10 must show a COVID-19 Vaccine Certificate to be allowed entry into the country, the Minister of Health and Population, Khumbize Chiponda, has announced.

Travellers who cannot show a proof of vaccination can opt to receive the vaccine at their point of entry, free of charge. Arrivals who refuse the vaccine offered at all points of entry must undergo institutional quarantine for 10 days at their own cost.

This is in addition to providing a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours at time of arrival. Travellers without a negative PCR test must take a rapid antigen test upon arrival, without exception and at their own cost, effective December 6.

Those who test positive in their antigen test must take a PCR test, also at their own cost.

All these measures will remain in force until December 31, the Minister confirmed in an official statement.
