Meet 25 exhibitors from Africa and Indian Ocean islands at Spotlight workshops next week

The ‘A Team’ of African and Indian Ocean suppliers will be attending the Spotlight on Africa and Indian Ocean islands workshops in Cape Town on August 30 and Sandton on September 1. 

25 exhibitors have confirmed participation and these include airlines, safari lodges, beach resorts, city centre hotels, and African DMCs promoting Mauritius, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Mozambique, Kenya, Maldives, Uganda, Botswana, Seychelles, Zimbabwe and Madagascar.

Travel by South Africans to the rest of Africa and the Indian Ocean islands has recovered significantly this year, according to Derek Houston, the organiser of Spotlight on Africa Travel Workshops – in fact, almost to pre-COVID levels. 

Exhibitors from East Africa and Indian Ocean islands are anxious to re-establish communication with the South African outbound travel trade and this has prompted Houston Travel Marketing to organise these Spotlight workshops. The major focus of Spotlight will be to promote outbound travel from South Africa to the rest of Africa and the Indian Ocean islands. 

Mauritius and Zanzibar resorts will be particularly well represented at Spotlight and we also have exhibitors promoting the Kenyan coast, Maasai Mara, Serengeti and gorilla trekking in Uganda. 

The Spotlight workshops will be an ideal opportunity for the South African travel trade to update their knowledge of travel into Africa and to negotiate rates and packages with the exhibitors. 

The workshops, which will be held at Hotel Sky Cape Town and Hotel Sky Sandton, will be morning-only events.

South African inbound DMCs will also find Spotlight workshops very beneficial. “A large number of South African inbound DMCs also package and promote travel into Africa for their international clients and they will therefore find these workshops of particular benefit,” concludes Houston.
