More EK CPT flights?

Speaking at a media event during last week’s We Are Africa trade show in Cape Town, Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis said that Emirates intends to launch a third daily frequency on the Cape Town-Dubai route.

But Emirates would not confirm the third frequency. An EK spokesperson said only: “Cape Town is an important gateway on our Southern African network, with historically healthy loads in and out of the city, served by a double daily B777 aircraft. Newly delivered A350 aircraft entering scheduled service, and the ramped-up deployment of retrofitted aircraft will provide Emirates with more flexibility to grow and develop our global route network.

“We continue to have ongoing discussions with the authorities as well as our local partners around future expansion plans and will make an announcement when the time is right.”
