New Harare hotel to open

The multimillion-dollar renovation project of the north wing of Harare’s five-star Meikles Hotel is nearing completion.

Work on the US$7,5 million programme started in March last year, with all 132 bedrooms and suites cleared of fittings and furnishings and the bathrooms demolished. The banqueting and function rooms on the second floor of the wing were also stripped for refurbishment.

New features include a Presidential Suite, aimed at the top-end business and holiday traveller. The Club Dining Room was upgraded as well as the Imperial Suite and 13 Park Suites. Banqueting and function rooms have been revamped or redesigned and, on the ground floor, a new conference venue is being created.

“This is a most exciting development for Meikles Hotel and will further enhance its status as Zimbabwe’s premier hotel. It is our aim to offer world-class amenities and facilities in keeping with our role as a member of the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World group, which includes in its members some of the world’s best-known and most acclaimed hotels,” says Karl Snater, Meikles Hotel md.
