Nigeria red-lists South Africa

Nigeria has added South Africa to its red list of countries, officials said during a briefing on Monday, June 28. India, Brazil and Turkey have also been added to the list.

All travellers who have been to one of these four countries in the last 14 days are barred from entering Nigeria unless they are Nigerian passport holders or residents. In such cases, they must undergo a seven-day quarantine at their own cost, in a government-approved facility.

This is due to the spread of the Delta variant in South Africa, according to Chikwe Ihekweazu, the head of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, who said that the Delta variant had not yet been found in Nigeria.
