Qantas is operating a repatriation flight to bring South Africans home from Australia, the airline announced on its website.

Flight QF7025 will depart Melbourne at 11h00 on April 28, arriving in Johannesburg at 17h00 on the same day.

As soon as a booking is completed, travellers must contact Qantas by phone to provide their passport information and contact details, on: 02 8222 2422 (Sydney).

Passengers with a pre-existing medical condition will be required to complete a travel clearance form (found on Qantas’s medical clearance page) and return it to the airline as soon as possible. All passengers will also be required to complete a pre-travel health screening and temperature check before boarding.

Only South African citizens and permanent residents are allowed to enter South Africa at this time, and dual citizens (Australian/South African) are required to obtain prior permission from the Australian Border Force to leave the country, even if they are travelling on a South African passport.

A compulsory quarantine period of 14 days on arrival will be enforced on all passengers returning to South Africa, at sites identified by the South African Department of Health.
