Royal Caribbean International (RCI), represented by Cruises International in the South African market, hosted a trade breakfast on Monday, October 9, to showcase the cruise line’s Icon-class ships to be debuted from January 2024.

RCI’s first ship in the class, the Icon of the Seas will embark on its maiden voyage on January 27, 2024, and the line recently revealed the next ship in its Icon class fleet, the Star of the Seas, which will debut in 2025.

Star of the Seas will be the third ship in the cruise line’s fleet to be powered by liquid natural gas, combining the use of clean-burning marine fuel with environmental programmes on board.

Icon of the Seas will have six record-breaking waterslides, seven pools, the Surfside surfing simulator, an AquaDome with an entertainment stage and nightlife features, and over 40 ways to dine and drink.

Last month, RCI unveiled details of Hideaway Beach, its first adults-only beach destination on the northwest coast of RCI’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas, set to open in January in conjunction with the debut of Icon of the Seas.
