SA cruises are coming back!

MSC Cruises has just released the news that of the announcement by President Ramaphosa that the country has moved to lockdown level 1. The new measures will allow cruise ships to operate in line with national health protocols, which means that the cruise operator will be able to start its local cruises around the coast of Southern Africa.

The local summer season of cruises operated by MSC will launch as soon as the cruise company has government guidelines. The cruise line said it was waiting only for these guidelines for the resumption of cruises for South African holidaymakers.

“We will soon reconfirm the schedule of cruises planned for the season 21/22,” said a press release. “We will continue to work in tandem with all the relevant authorities to prepare for our return to South African waters, and share with them, of course, the great amount of data we have accumulated and knowledge we have learned since we resumed safe sailing in August 2020 for cruises in the Mediterranean.”

The release said the knowledge and experience the cruise line had gained since August 2020, had paved the way for it to resume sailings around the UK, Europe, North America and the Middle East. This had enabled tens of thousands of people to enjoy a relaxing, enjoyable and, above all else, safe time at sea with MSC Cruises.

“We now look forward to welcoming our South African guests on board in the near future for a wonderful holiday with a health and safety protocol that has led the way in the global cruise industry,” said MSC.
