SOUTH African Airways is to

introduce its new Airbus A350-

900 on the daily direct service

between Johannesburg and

New York.

The airline is supplementing

its existing long-haul fleet with

the new aircraft, which has

246 economy-class seats, with

the first six rows offering extra

leg-room. Business-class seats

recline to lie-flat beds.

The aircraft is state of the

art, offering the latest safety

features, a quieter cabin and a

modern inflight entertainment

system.

The A350 is expected to

reduce SAA’s fuel burn on

the route by up to 20%,

contributing to significantly

reduced operational costs and

improved carbon emissions.

Tlali Tlali, head of department:

Media Relations at SAA told

TNW: “The intention is improve

our overall performance on

the route by focusing on

reduced operating costs. We

know what the causes of the

financial bleed are and we are

addressing them.”

The flight schedule is as

follows:

Flight SA203 departs

Johannesburg at 21h00,

arriving in New York at 06h40

the following day.

Flight SA 204 departs New

York at 11h15, arriving in

Johannesburg the following day

at 08h05.
