Seychelles launched its national COVID-19 immunisation campaign last week, and became the first country in Africa to do so.
This according to President of the Republic of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan who also said Seychelles aimed to be the first in the world to vaccinate 70% of the population over 18 years of age.
"The COVID-19 immunization campaign is an important milestone for the restart of our tourism industry as the country balances its efforts to maintain its tourism activities and protect its population from further spread of the virus,” said Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde. He said that the economy of Seychelles depended on rebuilding the tourism industry.
Last Thursday, the island state re-opened its doors to visitors from anywhere in the world, as long as they had had both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and a negative 72-hour PCR test, said a tourism official.
Visitors with acceptable certification of both vaccination and negative PCR test will not need to quarantine on arrival.
