Social media group rallies to save SAA

A Facebook group called ‘Save SAA’ was created on April 16 with one simple goal – to take the matter of the airline’s recovery into their own hands.

The group description says it has been newly re-formed for people wanting to “give it their all” to save SAA and the thousands of jobs at risk.

“We will submit a basic 10-point plan to the government outlining the steps to save this once-great company and to return it to its former glory before the sun sets on December 31, 2020.”

Members of the ‘Save SAA’ group are already exhibiting a huge show of support for the national carrier.

A public post published on April 19 asked the group members if they’d be willing to come back to SAA for one year on a basic salary only to save the airline. 250 respondents optimistically volunteered with some saying they would do it free.

The group had over 1 700 members on April 20, and was founded by Kevin Jones-Craig. He is ceo of Capital Airways and previously worked at SAA, Nationwide and 1time Airline.
