SWISS Premium Economy comes to JNB

The first Swiss International Air Lines A340-300 with the new Premium Economy class cabin took off from Zurich for Johannesburg on January 24.

Simple Flying reports that all four SWISS Airbus A340s will feature the new cabin class by April and the new seating class will be bookable for the destinations served with this fleet.

According to aviation data and analytics provider, Cirium, since January, the carrier operates the A340-300 on 26 weekly flights from Zurich to Hong Kong, Johannesburg, and Chicago.

SWISS has already installed a new Premium-Economy class throughout its Boeing 777-300ER fleet. It was the first airline in the Lufthansa Group to introduce the best-in-class premium-economy seat, which set new comfort benchmarks with a seat pitch of almost a metre and a width of 48cm.

“Our new Premium-Economy class has rapidly established itself as a hugely popular way of travel,” said SWISS Chief Commercial Officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour. He said the positive feedback on greater seating comfort, enhanced service, wider choice of meals and quality of the food strengthened the airline’s resolve to offer the product on more of its routes.
