The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) has outlined the programme for its annual Tourism Leadership Conference, with discussions focusing on the economic importance of the tourism sector for South Africa.

The conference, which will take place from September 6-8 at Sun City in the North West, will be held during tourism month, under the theme ‘Tourism – The Engine of Growth’.
“As many of us in the sector know, tourism has the potential to push our nation to higher levels of economic opportunity. For that to be achieved, it requires the private and public sectors to work together. This conference presents a unique chance for that to happen. We look forward to meaningful discussions on how to make the most of what the tourism industry has to offer,” said TBCSA CEO, Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa.

This year’s gathering will be an open forum of discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing the tourism sector. It will see key industry players and policymakers under one roof, reflecting and deliberating about how to ‘make tourism matter’.

Some of the topics that will be discussed at the conference include:

  • Travel and Tourism Industry Global and Domestic Outlook

  • Tourism Recovery and Growth

  • Destination Marketing – International, Domestic, and Regional

  • Sustainable Tourism – Protecting what matters

  • Tourism Leadership Masterclass

  • How tourism should support domestic businesses by buying local

  • Investment and opportunities in tourism

The TBCSA will announce more speakers and panellists closer to the conference.

Delegates interested in attending can click here to register. Registration will close on August 4, 2023.
