Thailand updates entry rules

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced an update on rules for travellers to the country.

International travellers who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to show proof of a pre-arrival negative PCR test nor to undergo an arrival test. However, they must still register for a Thailand Pass (via https://tp.consular.go.th/) with a certificate of vaccination and a travel medical insurance policy.  On arrival they are free to go anywhere in the kingdom.

Unvaccinated travellers, or those who are not fully vaccinated, also no longer have to show proof of a pre-arrival negative PCR test nor have to undergo a test on arrival, provided they are prepared to spend five days in a quarantine hotel. They must register for a Thailand Pass with a five-day quarantine hotel booking. On arrival they must proceed to the quarantine hotel and undergo a PCR test on Day 5.

However, unvaccinated travellers who are able to upload proof of a negative PCR test within 72 hours of travel, via the Thailand Pass system, will, like those fully vaccinated, be allowed entry and are free to move around anywhere in the kingdom.

All travellers must have a certificate of travel insurance with cover for no less than US$10 000 (R156 000). This has been reduced from the former requirement of US$20 000 (R312 000).

Registration on Thailand Pass for travellers entering the country from May 1 under new entry measures will be open from April 29 onwards. More information is available on www.tatnews.org
